Ever wondered what it’s like to navigate the city streets from a cat’s perspective? Hiroshima Prefecture has done just that with its latest project – Cat Street View.
Think Google Maps through a cat’s eyes. The site will take a while to load so don’t be discouraged by a black screen. You’ll soon be greeted by soothing piano music and videos of cats of the area. You can choose to skip the video (but why would you?) and will find yourself in the town of Onomichi.
Your mouse icon turns into a cute paw as you virtually stroll about at your leisure. Whenever you pass hidden felines, you will hear a meow prompting you to look to the left or right until you either see a kitty or an orange icon. Click on it and it will bring up the cat’s bio. Some cats even have a video icon so you can see them in action.
Currently, there are only two sections of Onomichi to be explored in this manner – the shopping arcade and the hillside. To switch between the two, click the button on the top left of the map. In the future, more areas of Onomichi will be included.
What a refreshing way of exploring a town and meeting its feline residents along the way! Click here to get started.
